COVID-19 INFORMATION
COVID-19 Response Update
On Tuesday, April 13, 2021, the Consistory met for its regularly scheduled meeting. At that meeting, the following decisions were made in accordance with the news that Governor Holcomb’s Executive Order 21-06 was rescinded as of April 5, 2021.
Face Coverings:
The Consistory has decided to leave the choice to wear a face covering to each individual who attends one of our Worship Services, classes, or other events with an emphasis of being considerate and respectful to people who feel differently than you.
Social Distancing:
The Consistory has decided to continue strongly encouraging social distancing during all Worship Services, classes, and other events whenever possible. Especially when it is possible for both individuals wearing face coverings and not wearing face coverings to come in close contact (for example: before, during, and after services).
Ongoing Vigilance:
We’ll continue to be cautious in the following areas:
-
We will continue to refrain from passing the offering plates.
-
We will continue to use prepackaged communion elements.
-
We will continue to be mindful of the service length to limit the amount of time that large groups congregate in a shared space.
-
Hand sanitizer will still be available throughout the building.
-
The use of worship bulletins, hymnals, and pew Bibles will be optional, with the worship elements continuing to be projected on the wall.
Please contact us with any questions. We thank you for your cooperation as we navigate this pandemic together.
Our Perspective
As we've navigated this pandemic, the leadership of Salem Magley Church has aimed to maintain two strong convictions: both a commitment to promoting the health and safety of our community and the strong Christian conviction of meeting together and trusting God during times of uncertainty. Because we hold these convictions, it has always been our priority to both take the pandemic seriously and hold in-person worship services whenever possible. To do this safely, we've put the following policies into place in accordance with local, state, and national health guidelines.
For Worship Services
-
We ask all adults to wear facing coverings for the duration of the service and strongly recommended them for children who are willing to cooperate (we understand that some kids just won't wear masks). We understand that some individuals are unable to wear face coverings for a verity reasons. If we see you without one, we trust that you have a valid reason for not doing so.
-
Please observer proper social distancing guidelines. Every other pew is marked with a closed sign. Please do your best to adhere to these signs. We understand this isn't always possible, but ask that each social group attempt to space themselves from other social groups when possible.
-
Bulletins are currently not being used, we are currently not passing offering plates, and other hands free worship practices have been put into place to limit contact points throughout the sanctuary.
-
We aim to keep services between 45-60 minutes to limit the amount of time that large groups congregate in a shared space.
For Sunday School
-
We ask that face coverings be worn during all adult classes, youth classes, and children classes with the exception of the nursery. As stated above, we understand some individuals are unable to wear face coverings.
-
Please observer proper social distancing guidelines at all times.
-
In Godly Play (for Pre-K through 5th grade), children will use hand sanitizer upon entering the class room. Children are also given their own set of craft supplies which are marked and left in the room from week to week. If you are visiting and let us know ahead of time, we will have a set prepared for your child. Extra sets are always available.
-
Hand sanitizer is also available in adult classrooms.
For All other Gatherings
-
We ask that face coverings be worn for the duration of the gathering. As stated above, we understand some individuals are unable to wear face coverings.
-
Please observer proper social distancing guidelines at all times.
-
Hand sanitizer is available upon request.
